What’s better than a teddy bear??

June 25, 2008

Pickles has adopted the kids stuffed pug toy. It’s his little “mini me”. He carries it around, plays with it, and last night he curled up with it for a nap on the floor. He used to be only slightly bigger than it, now he’s huge compared to it. Our little baby boy is growing up!

My favorite pug videos

May 23, 2008

I love pugs- they are so wonderful. These are some of my favorite pug videos. The donut one is so funny because their little curly tails look like donuts. The licking one is funny because pugs do have this strange licking behavior- they do it all the time! Anyway, enjoy!

Is it summer yet??

May 22, 2008

The kids have only six days left of school! I will be so happy when we can all sleep in and spend our days laying out by the pool. This summer is going to be very different than last summer because the kids just have so many friends on our block now. They should have no problem staying entertained. Hopefully we can do some fun things to keep them out of trouble too. I’m so sad that our roller skating rink is closing in June. Both of the kids learned to skate there, their little hands are painted on the walls from thier birthday parties, where will we go for indoor fun?? Hopefully the dollar movie theater stays in business!

I love this time of year, hectic as it is. They have all their little end of year parties and stuff. Last week was field day, if I never see another can of Nacho Cheese it will be too soon! I’m that crazy person who signs up to work all day and gets put in the concession tent. I didn’t even get to take pictures of them playing with their friends. This was McKenzie’s last field day.

It’s such a bitter sweet thing knowing that my baby is going to middle school. She’s been at Double File since Kindergarten- it’s been such a wonderful school. I’m really glad Matt has a couple years to go- I’m not ready to say goodbye to DFT! I’ve already signed up to stay on as Fundraising Chair for our PTA- it will be my 2nd year on the executive board. It’s so much work, but so rewarding too. I wonder where they will put me to work at Ridgeview? I know I’ll do some band booster stuff for my little clarinet player. I’ll be busy promoting our bond package for the November election too. I would just hate to think that after all the hard work we’ve done on the Bond Committee putting it together it would fail because of voter ignorance. RRISD is going to be in trouble if the bond doesn’t pass- I think $300M is a fair price for a good education!

Here they are on the first day of school- they have grown so much this year. I’ll have last day pics up next week. Kenzie looks so pretty in her graduation dress…

It’s Pickles- I am so confused. So the woman took me to the doctors office- we’ve done this before, only this time she just left me there. So they poked me and stuck something in my butt, then they gave me some medicine. I took a nap and when I woke up my front legs were shaved and there were stitches where you don’t want to have stitches… I just know something is wrong down there, feels like it will never be the same again. Then when I came home they wouldn’t even let me play- I had to stay in my crate for hours- no running, no jumping, no nothing fun. I don’t understand these humans… the only good part was that they felt sorry for me and let me sleep in their bed a few nights. Their bed is so comfy, and I do like to cuddle. I guess I’ll forgive them, I just wish they would let me bite my stitches!

Poor Pickles. He’s at the vet today getting neutered. I don’t know what we’re going to do without him overnight, I miss him already! He won’t be ready to pick up until 10:30 tomorrow! He’s been such a perfect addition to our family, we really got lucky with that little cutie! I’ll have an update posted in the morninig.

Now Pickles is Grounded!

May 4, 2008

We had a big party last night. It was the Fiesta at Casa Baum for Cinco de Mayo. I wasn’t allowed to call it a Cinco de Mayo party because we’re not Mexican… whatever. So we had a house full of people, everyone was eating and drinking having a great time. I had the dogs put up in their little room because some of the kids at the party were scared of them, and because I didn’t want to take a chance of one of them getting out the front door and taking off. I eventually did let the boys out to potty, and to show off a little. Next thing I know, Pickles is drinking someone’s beer! He had set it down to play on the trampoline with his son and when he turned around Pickles was lapping it up! I had to talk to him about the dangers of under age drinking, and now he’s grounded until further notice. I guess I’m glad it was the baby dog and not one of the kids! =)

Going to the groomer

April 30, 2008

Today is doggie spa day! It’s the first trip for baby Pickles. They are all getting the full treatment: bath, blow dry and brush, nails, ears, butts… I really hope Pickles has a good experience. We go to Classy Dogs- they do such a good job. The babies come home happy and smelling so good. Pugsley always falls asleep in the car on the way home- it must wear him out. I just miss them so much while they are gone, it’s so strange not to have them following me around the house all day.

Is this terrible?

April 28, 2008

So, this weekend I went to a 12 hour scrapbook event. It was the only thing I wanted for my birthday and it was awesome! I packed up all my stuff, and had big ambitions of getting Matthew’s scrapbook current. I had over 2 years worth of pictures to get through, and knew it would be a big job. My motivation? Get this done and I can work on the dog’s book!! So, 25 pages later, Matt’s book is current! First time ever that I can say that! Kenzie’s book is still a couple years behind, but the Pug scrapbook is looking GOOD!!

My favorite story of the day? My neighbor, Dana and I rode together- she told me this story on the way home- so funny. She was working on her little daughter’s book. She was doing this beautiful layout from Leah’s adoption. They were in Korea after the ceremony and Leah is dressed in this beautiful Korean gown. The layout was perfect- all in reds and pinks with Asian looking flowers, really pretty. Meanwhile I am going through the Pug’s bluebonnet pictures. The older lady across from me said, “Oh that is so beautiful!”. Dana said she almost said, “thank you”, and then realized that the lady was looking at my damn dogs and not her gorgeous layout!! What can I say? Pugs are awesome- no one can resist their wrinkly faces!! 🙂

Preparing for the Pug Luau!

April 22, 2008

Every year the Austin Pug Club hosts a Pug Luau to raise money for Pug Rescue. Last year there were so many pugs that we actually made it on the news! They are so cute all running around in grass skirts, Hawaiian shirts, bikinis, and leis! I’m trying to come up with cute costumes for these pug boys, but just can’t decide on a theme. Anyone have any great ideas? If I could get Pugsley to carry around an apple in his mouth he could go as the roast pig! I bet I could make Pickles into a pineapple or something…. we’ll probably end up in the traditional Hawaiian shirts! Oh- won’t the pictures be wonderful?!!

For whom the bell tolls…

April 18, 2008

Pickles had a potty training break through today, or at least I think he did! We have a little bell hanging on the back door. It’s very high tech- an old Christmas jingle bell tied to the door knob with a long ribbon. When Tink or Pugsley need to go outside they go smack it with their paw or bump it with their nose, it rings, and I let them out. Today baby Pickles rang the bell all by himself! I was in the office, Pugsley was sleeping on my feet, Tink was sleeping in the bed behind me, and I heard the bell. I ran to the door and there is little pickles on the rug! I threw him a little party and he went out and did his business! He’s such a smart little baby!
